In 2019, Todd Phillips brought a different version of the Clown Prince of Crime in Joker, introducing the audience to Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a failed stand-up comedian dealing with mental illness who is pushed to his limits by the decay in Gotham City and other personal issues.
