Palpatine"s Clone Plans May Be So Much Bigger Than Grogu & Snoke

This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch's season 2 finale.Star Wars: The Bad Batch is increasingly focusing on Palpatine's cloning plans, clearly setting up future experiments with Grogu and Snoke that led to his resurrection - but the Emperor's true scheme could be even more dangerous. According to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the ancient Sith were always interested in cloning. Little wonder, then, that Palpatine saw the breakthroughs made by the Kaminoans as something he could repurpose to his own evil ends. The Empire's secret clone research facility on Mount Tantiss seems to have been established before the Clone Wars even ended, and according to Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2, it was led by a Palpatine loyalist named Dr. Hemlock.
There's a clear sense of direction to this particular narrative, one that runs straight through The Mandalorian's Dr. Pershing and his experiments on Grogu, and on to the resurrected Palpatine himself. The Emperor never intended to pass his throne on to his apprentice; like so many Sith before him, he always dreamed of conquering death, and ruling forever. But the research being conducted at the Empire's Mount Tantiss facility may be even more dangerous than viewers have realized.
