Chief O"Brien"s 10 Best Star Trek TNG & DS9 Episodes

As the first character to bridge the gap between Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Chief Miles O'Brien (Colm Meaney) has many great episodes in both shows. Star Trek: Lower Decks brilliantly paid tribute to O'Brien in season 1, episode 3, "Temporal Edict", when a flash forward revealed a future society teaching about O'Brien's importance to the Star Trek universe. In TNG, O'Brien once stated that he had the honor of serving under the two best captains in the fleet, and that made three when he transferred to DS9 to serve under Commander, then Captain Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks).
On the USS Enterprise-D, O'Brien was predominantly the transporter chief, but fulfilled many other roles, including tactical officer during the Klingon Civil War. O'Brien had previously been a tactical officer aboard the USS Rutledge during the war against Star Trek's Cardassians, and his experiences in combat colored his opinion of the species. O'Brien's relationship with the Cardassians was a key part of many of his best episodes, but his strongest episodes are also defined by his role as a husband, a father, a loyal friend, and an excellent engineer.
