The cameo could have been a major game changer for the series had Titans been picked up for a fifth season. Unfortunately, while impressive, the cameo also seems anti-climactic given the series' sudden cancelation, adding a melancholy note to a moment of triumph that had been eagerly anticipated by both viewers and Conner Kent himself.
The story of Titans season 4 found Conner Kent torn between extremes. After being stood-up by Superman following a promised meeting with the Kryptonian hero, Conner began to explore the history of his other birth father, billionaire Lex Luthor, who combined his DNA with Superman's to create a super-son he could mold in his own image. For a time, Conner tried to follow in Lex's footsteps, shaving his head and focused upon his intellect and inventiveness instead of his superhuman abilities. This drove a wedge between Conner and his teammates, pushing him to go it alone for most of the second half of Titans season 4.
