Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Scene Hits Differently 9 Years & 6 Movies Later
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Rocket's outburst in
Guardians of the Galaxy is so much more emotional 9 years and 6 movies later. James Gunn officially wraps up his stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Aside from the threequel marking the end of an era for the Guardians of the Galaxy, it also tackles Rocket Raccoon's mysterious origins.
Considering what's revealed about how Rocket was made in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, a specific scene in the original 2014 film now hits differently as pointed out by Zach Pope on Twitter. Check out the clip below:
The aforementioned scene was during the very first group scene with all original members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Knowing that he has been cybernetically modified, the moment was already very emotional, but learning just what Rocket had to endure in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 makes this so heartbreaking to watch.
What's Next For Rocket Raccoon After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
As a trilogy-capper, the latest Marvel Studios project provides a satisfying end to the original roster's run in the MCU. Unlike Avengers: Endgame that saw the deaths of Iron Man and Black Widow, not to mention the retirement of Captain America, however, no main character dies in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Instead, many of them just go on their separate ways, as they deal with their respective goals moving forward.
For Rocket, that means spearheading a revamped team. As seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 post-credits scene, he now leads Groot, Kraglin, Adam Warlock, Cosmo the Spacedog, and Phyla. While their missions seem to be largely isolated, focusing on helping those in need around the cosmos, it isn't outside the realm of possibility that they eventually team up with the Avengers, especially in light of the upcoming threat brought by Kang the Conqueror.
