Magistrate Explained: How The Mandalorian & Ahsoka Villain Connects To Thrawn

The Mandalorian season 2, episode 5 introduced viewers to Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth, played by Diana Lee Inosanto, whose connection to Grand Admiral Thrawn means she will return in Ahsoka. Imperial Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth initially seemed to be just another client for Din Djarin - until viewers learned she had hired him to eliminate Ahsoka Tano. The episode eventually revealed Ahsoka was interested in Elsbeth because she believed she had information she needed - specifically on Grand Admiral Thrawn.
A little of Magistrate Elsbeth's backstory has already been revealed, although more will be told in the Ahsoka Disney+ TV show. Elsbeth has already revealed her civilization was massacred during the Clone Wars. The tragedy she experienced drove Elsbeth to found the Imperial Navy, which went on to conquer worlds by taking their natural resources. Ultimately, this led her to take control of the planet Calodan, where she resided long after the Empire’s fall. However, Ahsoka wasn’t interested in deposing the Magistrate’s false rule, she was more interested in who Elsbeth was working for.
