Deadpool 3 Is Marvel"s Real Opportunity To Introduce MCU"s X-Men
Marvel Studios has the perfect opportunity to bring the X-Men into the MCU during Phase 6's
Deadpool 3. Ryan Reynolds was confirmed to appear in the MCU as Deadpool after Disney's acquisition of Fox in 2019, and is currently the only non-MCU character permanently making the move from Fox's X-Men franchise to the MCU. Hugh Jackman was revealed to be joining Reynolds in Deadpool 3, reprising his role of Wolverine, and Patrick Stewart has even teased his and Ian McKellen's involvement in the project, justifying speculation that several X-Men characters could make their way into the MCU.
Fox's X-Men franchise kicked off in 2000 with the release of Bryan Singer's X-Men, but the quality and popularity of the franchise faltered during its final years, with projects such as X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants being met with mostly negative reviews. Even so, there were calls for a true conclusion to the X-Men franchise after the series came to an abrupt end, and Deadpool 3 could provide the perfect opportunity for this to occur. Marvel Studios started their integration of mutants into the MCU during Phase 4, but Phase 6 projects including Deadpool 3 and Avengers: Secret Wars are expected to introduce even more.
