DC"s Costume Auctions Mean You Could Own 2 Of Batman"s Coolest Suits (& 1 Of His Worst)

Batman is one of the most popular DC Universe heroes, and a number of props from his various films have recently been put up for auction. The modern era of Batman films began in 1989, which changed Batman"s costume and personality, deviating from the campy style of the 1960s Adam West movie and series. Much time, money, and energy have since been poured into these features, many of which have become modern classics, rendering their props as must-haves.
With all the live-action Batman actors and films, several different tones and styles have been used throughout the run of the franchise. Some of these have been among the best-received films of all time, while others have had a more mixed response. Getting the tone of The Dark Knight right is a difficult task, as what audiences want from Batman seems to change with time. As the DCU"s Chapter One sets up for a new relaunch of the character in The Brave and the Bold movie, it is worth revisiting the costumes of the past - especially now some are up for grabs.

Seeing the varied nature of some of these props is incredible. With paraphernalia that ranges from Two-Face"s coin to even Batman"s grapple gun, there are all sorts of memorabilia available that would fit well into any collection. Given the pop-cultural legacy that the early Batman films have built up over the years, owning a piece of that is an exciting prospect, especially since Warner Bros. Discovery has committed to donate to the charity You Gotta Believe at the end of the auction period.

The incredible Ben Affleck suit from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is available when auctioning begins on December 6th. In addition, a stunt version of the suit that Michael Keaton wore in The Flash will be sold. While multiple versions of these suits are manufactured for use in these films, each individual costume is constructed with great care, with thoughtful additions to the suits that reflect the heroes and their stories in subtle ways.
Aside from these two incredible costumes, the Batman & Robin suit, complete with rubber nipples, is also being put up for auction. While George Clooney"s portrayal of The Dark Knight in this movie has proven more controversial, there was a great deal of thought put into his costuming here, which was meant to resemble a Greek statue. Among the various versions of the Batsuit, this iteration has its own unique appeal and charm, making it still an interesting curio. Using foam, latex, and silicone, the costume designers genuinely pulled iterations of the iconic hero from the page to the screen.

Whether the character was played by George Clooney, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, or any of the other actors that have played the role over the years, each Batman movie through the years has felt like an enormous event. The suits are an extension of this, and contribute memorably to the character"s legacy. While not every Batman film has been universally beloved, many still fondly remember various aspects of each portrayal. Much of that is encapsulated in the makeup of each memorable suit, and how each has deviated from one idea of the hero to the next.
