Every MCU Hero We Can"t Wait To See Side-By-Side With Daredevil After Born Again
Daredevil: Born Again will be Charlie Cox"s final step of integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and could open up his character"s possibilities for future team-ups. Ever since his debut on Netflix"s Daredevil, Charlie Cox has quickly established himself as one of the greatest superhero castings of all time, presenting a strong enough performance as the Man Without Fear to be worth carrying over into the MCU. Now, the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again could see him finally get to interact with MCU heroes on a more substantial level.
Already, Matt Murdock has enjoyed a variety of cameos in other Marvel projects, including She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Echo. While these appearances are a welcome teaser for dedicated fans of the original Netflix show, his time in the spotlight in Daredevil: Born Again should make him more eligible for future notable team-ups. It"ll be interesting to see how Charlie Cox"s brilliant performance as Matt Murdock shares the screen with other beloved MCU heroes.
10 Spider-Man Daredevil's fellow street-level New York City defender
In the comics, one of Daredevil"s most recurring allies is none other than his fellow vigilante hero of New York City, Spider-Man. Bearing similar morals, power-sets, and even sharing a few notable villains such as Kingpin, it"s no wonder that Daredevil and Spider-Man are commonly depicted as getting along so well. It would be an undeniable thrill to finally see the MCU"s versions of both characters team up against a common foe.
Matt Murdock and Peter Parker have already crossed paths once canonically in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Matt giving Peter a valuable legal consultation following the reveal of his secret identity. That film ends with Peter Parker"s reputation being reset, forcing him to start from the ground-up as a more street level hero once again. This would be a great way to have him cross paths with Daredevil, who has a high chance of appearing in the cast of Spider-Man 4 thanks to the two heroes" history.
9 Deadpool Could provide an interesting foil to Daredevil
Custom image by Niall Gray Other than a soft spot for red costumes and some impressive martial arts skills, there isn"t initially much that should tie Daredevil and Deadpool together in the MCU. However, there is some comic precedence for a team-up between the two of them, with Deadpool tagging along to join forces with the hero of Hell"s Kitchen much to Matt Murdock"s chagrin. Upon closer examination, Deadpool and Daredevil actually have a lot in common as latecomers to the MCU that hopped over from pre-existing properties.
One of the most exciting things about a Deadpool and Daredevil team-up would be the incredible banter that would flow between the two. As a blind Catholic pacifist lawyer superhero who dresses up like a demon, Daredevil"s existence of contradiction would provide the snarky Deadpool with no end of hilarious comedic material. Thanks to Charlie Cox"s dry comedic delivery, Daredevil might stand a chance of being one of the few MCU characters who could actually match Deadpool"s humor one-on-one.
8 She-Hulk The two could continue their blossoming romance
One of the few strictly MCU heroes with the honor of crossing paths with Daredevil while in costume is none other than She-Hulk. While the two started out with a rocky relationship thanks to their confused fight while on duty, the pairing soon led to a fast and ferocious romance that even led to Matt Murdock meeting Jen Walters" family while out-of-costume. As far as audiences know, Daredevil and She-Hulk are still romantically involved, if long-distance.
It"ll be fascinating to see whether the two officially become the MCU"s healthiest crime-fighting power couple, continuing their romance in further installments of the franchise. Historically, Matt Murdock doesn"t have a great track record with his relationships in both the comics and the MCU, with tumultuous flings with Elektra and Karen Page ending with heartbreak or worse. Regardless of their relationship status, it would be intriguing to see Daredevil and She-Hulk actually work together in the field rather than trying to smash one another.
7 Moon Knight Could help Daredevil form the MCU's Marvel Knights
Custom image by Felipe Rangel A recent newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe who has yet to interact with anyone outside his narrow sphere of influence in none other than Moon Knight. In the comics, Moon Knight and Daredevil have actually crossed paths more than once, forming a superhero team referred to out-of-universe as the Marvel Knights. This brief-lived team saw a lot of conflict occur between Daredevil and Moon Knight, making for a frosty dynamic that provided a lot of intriguing superhero drama.
In some ways, Moon Knight and Daredevil are quite similar, both tortured heroes living with a unique condition that affects them in their private civilian lives. However, they have some truly diametrically opposed moral beliefs, with Daredevil"s strict code of ethics that keeps him from killing under any circumstances clashing heavily with Moon Knight"s position as a lethal vigilante. It would be interesting to see this ideological divide act out in a Marvel Knights MCU project that puts the two in the same cast.
6 The Punisher Has too good of an on-screen chemistry with Daredevil
Speaking of heroes who have no qualms killing, The Punisher is the archetypal murderous anti-hero in the Marvel Universe that got to appear in the Netflix Daredevil continuity. Played brilliantly by Jon Bernthal, Frank Castle introduces himself in Daredevil only to later get his own spin-off solo series. Daredevil and The Punisher"s dynamic as enemies and reluctant allies is one of the strongest arcs in the entire original show, thanks in no small part to Bernthal"s thoughtful take on Frank Castle"s damaged psyche.
Thanks to Kingpin"s flashbacks, Echo seemingly confirmed the Netflix shows as canon, meaning that another appearance from Jon Bernthal"s Punisher could be on the table for the MCU. It would be amazing to see Charlie Cox and Jon Bernthal"s incredible chemistry take up the screen once again. Considering all each character had been through since they last crossed paths, the two would likely have a lot to talk about since their last tense conversation, particularly with Frank leaning heavier into his violent nature by the end of his own series.
5 Luke Cage Provides a fascinating foil to Matt Murdock
Another Netflix continuity hero with a strong chance of returning to the MCU, Luke Cage presents another possible hero team-up for Daredevil oozing with potential. In the crossover show The Defenders, Luke Cage and Daredevil did indeed meet during their brief time on the same superhero team alongside Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. Of the four, Cage and Daredevil have the strongest personalities, making them the two biggest front-runners to join forces once more in an official MCU capacity.
Luke Cage and Daredevil had a bit of a bristly relationship in their first meeting thanks to Daredevil"s initial refusal to reveal his identity, not to mention the fact that so many people in Cage"s life asked him why he couldn"t use his powers more like Daredevil prior to their meeting. The last Luke Cage heard from Daredevil, he was dead, meaning a reunion between the two would be a fascinating prospect. Daredevil also likely wouldn"t approve of Cage"s new status as a crime boss, which could add further exciting tension.
4 Jessica Jones Another Defender that could catch up with Daredevil
Jessica Jones is another Netflix hero that has yet to return to the MCU since the franchise"s integration in the larger series. In the comics, Jessica Jones and Daredevil are quite close as members of the Defenders, even if in the show they interact perhaps the least of any pairing of the four. All the more reason for the two to join forces again in some new adventure in New York City.
At the end of Jessica Jones, Jessica decides to stay put in New York, returning to her life as a private investigator at her own firm, Alias Investigations. This puts her in close proximity to Daredevil, who himself is still quite active in the MCU"s most superhero-dense city. It would be easy to see Daredevil seeking out Jessica Jones" help for an investigation on some sensitive mission that requires discretion and a trustworthy ally, though Jones, like Luke Cage, would probably be surprised to learn Daredevil is still alive.
3 Yelena Works as a suitable stand-in for Black Widow
In the comics, one of Daredevil"s biggest love interests is none other than Natasha Romanoff, the femme fatale Black Widow. The two briefly spent a stint working together while in a relationship in San Francisco, only for Black Widow to exit both the superhero team-up and the romance when she felt herself becoming a sidekick. Still, their romance is commonly referenced in many other incarnations of the characters, including the original Marvel 1602 comic run.
Considering Black Widow is deceased in the current MCU continuity, her surviving "sister" and fellow Black Widow program veteran, Yelena Belova, would be a great choice. Yelena has clashed with other street level heroes in Kingpin"s sphere of influence before in Hawkeye, so she would feel like quite the natural fit in an MCU Daredevil crossover. The two could even spark a unique romance, should She-Hulk and Daredevil"s courtroom puppy love fizzle out off-screen, as the MCU is wont to do with their romances.
2 Shang-Chi Has a lot in common with Matt Murdock
While Iron Fist of Netflix fame might seem like a more obvious choice for a kung fu-centric team-up in Daredevil"s future, the MCU has a new, more exciting rep for the world of martial arts in Shang-Chi. Shang-Chi and Daredevil have teamed-up numerous times before in the comics, owing to their similar personalities and shared backstory of undergoing cruel training at such a young age. Shang-Chi desperately needs another MCU appearance, and a collaboration with Daredevil could be the perfect opportunity.
As Shang-Chi is currently based in San Francisco, Daredevil could find himself moving there just as he does in the comics should some climactic event in Daredevil: Born Again prompt him to leave his hometown. Considering both Shang-Chi and Daredevil are two of the greatest martial artists in the MCU, it would be a treat to see them spar before pulling off some high-flying combination attacks on a shared enemy. It would be quite easy to mine a perfect villain that fits into both characters" backstories thanks to their Eastern roots.
1 Echo Needs a rematch against Daredevil
Echo is the second of the major mainline MCU characters to have faced off against Daredevil in the field, being a former right-hand-woman to Kingpin, Daredevil"s archnemesis. Noted as being the only person in Kingpin"s organization who could remotely hold her own against the Man Without Fear, Maya has been on quite the journey since her last meeting with Daredevil. Finally escaping from Kingpin"s influence and attempting to heal him of his deep-seated trauma, Maya officially became Echo, turning over a new leaf as a genuine hero.
It would be remarkable to see Echo and Daredevil meet again, this time on the same side against Kingpin"s criminal empire. As an ally, Daredevil and Echo would likely have a lot to talk about, with both of them living with sensory loss while juggling a superhero career. If there"s one hero that deserves to share the screen with Daredevil again in the MCU following
Daredevil: Born Again, it"s Echo.
